Where do you belong?

Clique ‘klik/: a narrow exclusive circle or group of persons.
The popular girls, the jocks, stoners, Goths, drifters and nerds. Cliques run the school. Too many teens are being judged on what they look like or what clique they belong in-not on who they are. You may not like someone based on what you think is true about them. No matter how hard we try to fit it, there’s always going to be people that immediately make stereotypes about you. It’s sad because most teens are a lot more similar than you think.
Being judged on looks also creates a lot of stereotypes. The jocks and popular girls are seen as promiscuous. The stoners are seen slackers-baggy clothes and the ability to have a conversation full of quotes from slacker movies. Goths are seen as cutters and victims of depression. Drifters are the people who try and make friends with everyone and spilt their time spending it with different people. Nerds: the smart kid with big glasses stereotype still exists.
I think it’s best to have a few friends from each clique. That way if you have more diverse friends you won’t be involved in all of the clique drama. Guys don’t seem to have as much problems with cliques as the girls do. Girls can be so mean to each other. They try and make others feel bad just so they feel better about themselves. Everyone has the choice to ignore drama but a lot of teens don’t.
It’s hard to avoid clique drama. It’s hard to decide if you’re going to let someone put you down and ignore it, or if you could speak your mind. Some teens do ignore it because the person picking on them comes of as superior compared to them.
When members of cliques cause drama with other cliques, it only shows how weak they truly are. The people that stand up to cliques are the true strong people. Teens shouldn’t have to go through school constantly being judged on looks, teens need to start digging deeper and finding out who people are inside. Make friends with people because of who they are, not the label they fall under.
