Fortunes told here….
June 10, 2009
It’s summer! YOU, my friend, are supposed to be outside building sandcastles, slapping around Target in your flip flops, or sipping lemonade while watching the sprinkler hit your mom’s flower bed. But no… here you are looking at the Wolfpack Press Web site.
That, my friend, is what we call fate. The hand of fortune is reaching out to you, magnetically pulling you towards your inevitable calling. “What calling?” you ask, as you feel the powerful tug of destiny: Why you are obviously supposed to become a journalist, writing and taking photos for the journalistic Gem of the North: The Wolfpack Press.
Browse the site this summer with your destiny in mind. Note that a journalist for the Wolfpack Press can write about nearly anything that they find interesting. We cover local, national and Park news. We keep pace with fashion trends, write concert, book, game and movie reviews and showcase the artistic and academic achievements of Park people. Do you like sports? Boy, do we have a heap of opportunities for you. Do you have strong opinions? Your moment for expressing them has arrived. Do you have sound advice for your peers? Our advice column needs an author. Do you have other article ideas? Toss them at us… we’ll probably love them.
Why write for the Wolfpack Press? Besides the fact that the clammy hand of fate has attached itself chillingly to the back of your neck and steers you inevitably towards doing so?
Consider your college resumes which will become even more illustrious with the addition of this prestigious academic activity. Consider the friends you will meet, the skills you will acquire, and the fun you will have as a journalist for such a splendiferous paper. (Did you catch that? … “splendiferous” is an entirely made up word… that’s what I’m talking about …you just try making up words in any other activity; you will be scorned. Here your funky, fantastic, fake words are welcome)
Finally, please note that coolness (there really is no other word for it) seeps through every pulsing vein of this fine publication, a coolness that will naturally spill onto you when you become an appreciated staff member. This coolness illuminates our writers and photographers and causes them to glow like shiny, happy beings in the world. Clearly, my bored summer friend, you have stumbled onto a brilliant opportunity. Start planning today, the articles you will write tomorrow…
