Teachers ain’t so bad…

The sign ‘If you can read this, thank a teacher’ poster says it all. Students are where they are because they got themselves there. They did their homework, paid attention in class, did well on tests, and how do students think they could do all that? They must have had some sort of support or help from someone who knows how to support and help them.
Teachers are there for every single student that they are teaching, for almost a whole entire day getting their daily lessons into kids’ heads to make them understand. Since pre-school or kindergarten to high school or college there will always be a teacher there to help. There are some mean teachers but most of them just want to help out so their students will succeed in the future.
“Outside of school, it takes about four hours a week to grade and correct papers.” Mr. Virgin, a math teacher, said. Answering questions, grading papers, being there for their students is what a teacher’s day is all about. Mr. Virgin became interested in becoming a teacher because his father and brother liked their own teaching jobs. He has taught at many schools in the past, so he has had a lot of teaching experience, like at Cottage Grove Junior High, Oltman, Princeton and other schools. “I arrive at seven in the morning and leave at around three fifteen, or if I have to coach I leave at two fifteen,” He said, “But I do love my job, and am excited about the new East Ridge High School.”
On the school website you can find all the emails of all the teachers so you can contact them at any time. The website also includes all the rules and activities of various teachers. Even though the rules are hard to follow sometimes, the teachers are trying to make students have a better learning environment with no distractions. The after-school activities make school a lot more fun and exciting. Students don’t just have to worry about doing homework for school, instead they can join a sport or try-out for a play, that way they will be busy having fun and meeting new people. School is definitely about getting good grades, but there are different ways you can work up to getting them by learning from a teacher. If students have fun learning about the subject they are being taught then they are more likely to do their homework on it and get good grades in that class. Teachers try to make it fun for them by trying to switch up their lessons, telling jokes, using hands-on things, and helping students out the best they can.
“I would learn a lot better with a fun teacher, and I think some teachers do make it fun and some don’t.” Tesha Malone, a senior, said. Malone is in track, an after school activity which she enjoys a lot, and she plans her schedule for learning very well so she can still get good grades. Getting good grades requires understanding and comprehending what the teacher is trying to teach. Every student is different and has different ways of learning so it is very difficult for the teacher to get every single students attention and make them understand everything they are trying to teach. Most teachers are not intimidating, mean, or unhelpful. They all should respectful of kids and not make any student afraid to ask question they are curious about. “I feel comfortable asking my teachers for help.” Malone said.
Many teachers love their job as a teacher and try to do their best at helping students learn. The homework is always piled on and they are strict with their rules, but it’s because they have to be. Homework is not for the teachers own benefit but for their students’ benefits. Doing homework will help them by practicing what they were taught in class so they can remember it and know how to do it. Even though it seems like a teachers job would be easy, it isn’t, they are doing their best to help out. Most teachers love their job; they don’t want anyone to fail. There are lots of things teachers do for each and every one of their students everyday, so a thank you once in a while just might make their day.
