Park Athletes Sign Letters of Intent
March 27, 2009 • written by Phil Kuemmel
April 8th is the first day of the regular signing period for students to sign a national letter of intent to participate in inter-collegiate athletics next year (the signing period for football, basketball, and soccer was earlier in the year).
Park High School will have two student-athletes signing a letter of intent on this day. Lauryn Morris will sign to play softball for Minnesota State-Mankato. Lauryn is a four year letter-winner and as a junior hit .391 and earned all-conference honors. Pitcher Ashley Kluever has committed to play softball for Concordia University in St. Paul. Kluever is a three year starter and has an 18-2 record the past two years including three no hitters and one perfect game. She also earned all-conference honors last year. There will be a brief signing ceremony at Park on Wednesday, April 8th. The ceremony will begin at 2:30 and will take place in the school’s media center. Head Coach Charlie Whitbred will say a few words about these students, and then the athletes will sign their national letter of intent. The parents and booster clubs will hold a reception immediately following the signing in the library. The public is welcome to join us in honoring these two student-athletes as they take the next step to continuing their athletic careers.
