My dad wants me to do sports but I’m not really into it anymore.  He’s gonna be steamed.  What can I tell him?

Here’s the deal:  this is your life, not your father’s.  If you choose not to participate in sports anymore, that affects YOU, not your dad.  In my opinion, you should sit him down and explain why you don’t want to do sports.  Thank him for his support while you were in sports, so that he understands that this isn’t about you simply rebelling.  Unless of course this is about you rebelling, then I don’t know what to tell you ;D

Recently, after a lot of drama my boyfriend broke up with me.  Now he wants to get back together.  I’m not sure I want to go through all that again.  What should I do?

Dear Juliet,

well, here’s the deal:  relationships are tricky.  There are a lot of things to consider before making a decision like this.  There are some questions you have to ask yourself before you make your choice. Why did you break up in the first place?  Is it something that two could fix?  What caused the drama?  Most importantly, would he be worth going through it all again should you break up again?

Everybody is different, so this isn’t a one-size-fits-all question or answer.  Some people prefer to follow their hearts and some prefer to follow their minds.  I think that the biggest thing for you right now is time.  Time to think about how you want your life to be.  No matter what adults say, no matter what the stories tell you, high school relationships really do affect who we grow up to be.
