NFL Update: Vikings blow out the Cardinals 35-14

The first place Vikings showed why they are in first place in the NFC north division with a convincing 35-14 victor over the NFC west champion Arizona Cardinals.

 

The Vikings offensive explosion started with an 82 yard punt return for touchdown from 1st year wideout Bernard Berrian. Then on the next possession Berrian caught a 41 yard touchdown pass from Tarvaris Jackson. Jackson who was filling in for the injured Gus Ferreotte showed Vikings fans some promise as he threw for 163 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson also showed up Sunday as he rushed for 165 yards on 28 attempts.

 

The Vikings defense also had an impressive showing against the Cardinals. They held Arizona’s two running backs J.J. Arrington and Tim Hightower to a combined 43 yards rushing. The Vikes passing defense also came up big holding Quarterback Kurt Warner under his average of 306 passing yards per game to only 270 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

 

The Vikings improved to 9-5 and The Cardinals drop to 8-6 both teams are still in 1st place in their respective divisions.
