Park High School is honored to announce the fifth class for induction in the Park High School Hall of Fame. These alumni are being recognized for this prestigious award because of their athletic excellence while representing Park High School. The coaches and community members are being honored for their commitment to the youth in our community and their dedication and support of Park athletics. The following are the individuals selected into the 2009 Hall of Fame:

Robert Blad (Class of ‘59): Robert received all-conference honors in football, hockey, and baseball. He helped lead the 1958 football team to an undefeated regular season record. He played college hockey at Colgate University and later became a pilot for Northwest Airlines.

Jeffrey Foote (Class of ‘91): Jeff was one of the best all-around athletes in Park’s history.  He earned All-State honors in baseball and football and also was a three year starter in hockey. He continued his baseball career in college and played professionally for a short time.

Donny Gramenz (Class of ‘88): Donny was perhaps the best soccer player to ever play for Park. He earned all-state honors, and after his college career played for the Minnesota Thunder, where he was a captain, and all-star, and is in their Hall of Fame. He currently is the coach for the Minnesota Thunder.

Jeff Nelson (Class of ‘83): Jeff played basketball and baseball while at Park. He is one of four Minnesotans to serve as a Major League Baseball umpire. He has umpired in the World Series, All-Star Game, and League Championship and Divisional Series.

Darcie (Dietz) Young (Class of ‘89):  Darcie was the first three year all-state softball player in Park’s history. As a pitcher, she led her teams to the state tournament three consecutive years, finishing third, fifth, and second. She finished her career with a record of 74-21 and a 1.3 ERA. She stuck out 492 batters throughout her career. She was elected into the High School Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006, and currently serves as the Director of Player Development and a volunteer pitching coach for CGAA softball.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 5:00p.m. at Mississippi Dunes on Grey Cloud Island. Phil,
Ask Bob Blad to describe his kick off return for a touchdown. Insure that he tells about his “blazing” speed during the return and unique way of catching the ball.
