The Art of Zen
December 15, 2008 • written by Gerard van Wijk
I’m sitting, watching TV,
You’re sitting in your chair.
I listen to your playing,
And ignore the grizzly bear
That’s growling on the TV,
Fierce as the Russian Czar.
I listen to your playing,
On your Fender guitar.
Your fingers dance across the strings,
Like acrobats on the trapeze.
They produce many amazing things,
And bring me to my knees.
I wish that I could play like you,
I’ve tried time and again.
But unlike you, so unlike you,
I lack that certain “Zen.”
That Zen that lies inside of you
And lets you play with ease. That Zen that I have tried to use,
that’s brought me to my knees.
