Cheap Date: Minneapolis Institute of Art

 Yo! Looking for a cheap date that tells your significant other that you’re more than just a pretty face?  Nothing says “I’m fascinating, smart, AND hip” like inviting that special someone to one of the finest art museums in America.  Just around the corner in the shiny, happy city of Minneapolis, the spectacular Minneapolis Institute of Art waits. With a rock solid Asian art collection, period rooms, textile exhibits, an outstanding collection of over 900 paintings and sculptures and a cool space to walk around in during the winter months, there is plenty to do an see at the MIA…. and, its all free, even parking.

 Think museums are boring?  Current exhibitions are far from it.  Check out “Strange Ornaments from the Renaissance Mind” running from November 8, 2008 to Sunday, May 3, 2009 or “Modernism 20: Past/Present/Future” running from Monday, October 13, 2008 to Friday, October 2, 2009.  Oh yea, and don’t leave without visiting the 16th century Japanese Rooms moved fully intact into the museum from Asia. Awesome!
